Dear Readers,
It has been quite a while since I posted anything and for that I apologize. Life has been running at an incredible pace since Easter. But I wanted to share a blog that has blessed me so immensely and I hope it does you too. Our friend from Chicago, John is suffering greatly with cancer. He was a literal genius both intellectually and musically (you will never meet a more gifted worship musician). He was a librarian at Wheaton College and it was once said of him that he can tell you where any book is located as well as the contents of any of them that are worth reading.
But sadly a few years ago a brain tumor was discovered. Now at times he barely recognizes where he is. Words come with difficulty (shocking for a man who had a fluent command of several languages). And as the tumors have metastasised it has left his body racked with pain. His wife and small children are amazing as they walk with him through this trial. The hope of the resurrection and their bedrock faith in the One who can save them is humbling. I would highly recommend reading some of their posts, especially this one or this one. John is an icon for all Christians of what it means to suffer with dignity, to suffer with Christ and to greet with open hands whatever the Lord apportions us...even death...or life.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away...blessed be the Lord!
